Under the Radar Brewery

Under the Radar is well known within the community that it serves but they are are hoping to reach a larger Houston audience. In this effort, they are seeking a more modern site that will compete with the other breweries in the Houston area.

Challenge

Attract a wider audience while maintaining a modern feel and providing information on products and events.

Solution

Create a modern looking website that provides information to a larger audience that may not know of weekly events or the beers on offer.

  • Methods: Competitive Research, Wireframing

  • Tools: Figma

Gathering Influence

Houston has an abundance of breweries. In an effort to stand out in a positive way, it is important to see what competitors are doing. One early item of note was how other breweries give information on their beers. Each has a unique way of showing off their beers and giving information on them, some are more successful than others.

Early Mockup

I like to provide the client with an early version of the wireframe if they want to be involved in the design process. Gathering feedback early from the client before too much time has been spent on a project can be invaluable in making sure I am hitting all the major components that the client is looking for.

For this review, the client wanted to showcase more beers on screen at one time.

Full Wireframe and Prototype

For the final delivery, I provided a full design of the website and a document containing any additional materials that would be necessary for the developer to build out the site.

This document consisted of a list of the beers that needed descriptions and where additional media (photos of events, the taproom, and products) would need to be provided to create a complete experience.

Design System

Provided a simple design system to make website creation easier for both the client and the website coder. For this guide, I included the hex codes for the various colors, typography information, and commonly used images/icons.

Client Feedback and Customer Comments

The client was happy with the final design and that it was all done within the provided timeline.

Client reported that they got several comments from customers saying they enjoyed the new site when they tested it with customers.

Accomplishments

  • Created a fully designed and prototyped website.

  • Stayed within the giving time frame for the client.

  • Client received positive feedback from customers that tested the site.
